We promote learning and collaboration within the technological and scientific community

The world has developed terrific cryptographic algorithms, and all sorts of wonderful protocols. However, as this talk shows, there are many challenges that people don't seem to worry about, that make network communication inconvenient and insecure. This talk will describe as many examples of this as possible, given the time constraints. Also, the talk will describe an example of something people propose as a "solution" ("distributed identities using blockchain"), and argue that it does not solve any of the challenges we'll discuss, and does not even do as good a job as the current Internet.
